Energy Projects Map: 33,000+ Solar, Wind, Storage and Grid Projects

Over 33,000 energy projects on one map: solar farms, wind, battery storage and grid projects, next to building permits and data centres.

Why an energy projects map

The energy transition is now one of the biggest drivers of construction. Solar parks, wind farms, battery storage sites, substations and transmission lines all need civil works, electrical installation, steel, cables, transformers, fencing, roads and maintenance. Most of these projects are public long before construction, through planning applications, grid connection queues and environmental filings, but that information is spread over many sources.

Mapenzo puts over 33,000 energy projects on one map, alongside about 1.7 million building permits and 4,323 existing data centres. You can see what is planned, where, and what else is happening around it.

What the layer contains

The energy layer covers generation and grid projects: utility-scale solar, onshore and offshore wind, battery storage, grid and substation projects and other generation types. Each project shows its location, type, size where published, status and source.

Rooftop solar is different. Household installations are filed as building or electrical permits, so in covered US areas they appear as solar permits: for example 3,606 in New York City, 1,441 in Montgomery County, Maryland and 1,401 in Chicago in 2026. See our guide to solar permit data for details.

Who uses it

Electrical contractors and EPCs find projects that will need installation crews and subcontractors.

Civil contractors see where access roads, foundations and cable trenches will be built.

Suppliers of cables, transformers, mounting systems, fencing and security plan sales into regions where many projects are queued.

Landowners and developers see what neighbouring land is being used for, and where grid capacity is being built.

Data centre and industrial developers look for new generation and grid capacity near potential sites. The data centre layer sits on the same map.

How to use it

  1. Open the map and switch on the energy projects layer.
  2. Filter by project type, such as solar or storage.
  3. Zoom to your region. In Europe the layer covers our permit countries, for example Poland or Estonia; in the US it extends beyond the cities where we have building permits.
  4. Open a project to see its status and source.
  5. Switch on building permits to see related works nearby.

Reading project status carefully

Energy projects have long and uncertain pipelines. Many projects in grid queues will never be built. Treat early-stage projects as market intelligence and later-stage ones (permitted, under construction) as sales leads. Each record links to its source.

Try it

Mapenzo has a simple way to test this: a 12-hour pass for 5 € opens every country, every permit and every layer, including energy projects and data centres. If you then subscribe, your first month is 50% off. Personal plans are 20, 50 or 80 € per month, and Team plans for sales teams are 40, 100 or 150 € per month.
